Are the teachings of Jesus Christ the best offer ever made to anyone?
I love how each of God’s commandments and teachings are beautifully designed by Him to bring us more real joy, inner peace, and more loving, trusting relationships.
For example, the first four of the Ten Commandments are designed to improve our relationship with God, and the next six are designed to improve our relationship with others. The First and Second Great Commandments of Jesus Christ – to love and serve God and our fellow human beings – are designed to make our relationship with God and with all others better and more joyful.
Through much careful study, prayer, reflection, and careful observation in my own life and in the lives of many others, I am convinced that the teachings of Jesus Christ work far better than anything else to bring greater “love, joy, gladness, and inner peace” into our lives, as God promised in the Bible in Galatians 5:22, where it teaches that “the fruit of the Spirit is joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, and faith.”
For anyone who has chosen to make a serious experiment in the joy-producing teachings of Jesus Christ, by carefully and prayerfully studying and following them, they soon experience the amazing spiritual gifts, or fruits of the Spirit, of greater “love, joy, inner peace, gentleness, goodness, faith,” etc. The teachings of Jesus Christ are the greatest offers ever offered to anyone, where the promised blessings are amazingly worth more than any effort to follow the commandments and teachings of God and His Son, Jesus Christ. No one needs to take anyone’s word for it. Anyone can make a serious personal experiment, and they will soon know for themselves that the teachings of Jesus Christ work far better than anything else in bringing these gifts of the Spirit, and that these spiritual gifts are worth far more than all the wealth in the world, or anything money can buy. If you stop to reflect deeply on the temptations and allurements of the devil and his team, you may also begin to realize that they offer the worst offers ever offered to anyone. They promise happiness in evil and have nothing of real value to offer. They cannot give any of the spiritual gifts of true love, joy, inner peace, kindness, etc., because they have none of those to give to anyone. Their goal is to trap people in bad habits and vices and thus take control of their lives, to lead them to lives of misery and regret. They disguise their offers to try to make sin and evil seem attractive, just as a fisherman tries to cover his hooks with tempting things to make fish fall into his traps. If you carefully study the teachings of Jesus Christ, then His teachings will seem more and more attractive and wonderful to you, and the devil’s offers will seem more and more like the horrible, foolish choices they are.
As Abraham Lincoln taught, “When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad.” God always encourages us to choose good, kind, and loving thoughts and actions. The devil and his team tempt us to choose evil and sinful thoughts and actions that damage relationships and give the devil and his team power over us through addictions and bad habits that become difficult to break.
